A Quote About Global Leadership

For centuries, world leaders have made some really stupid decisions, leaving the rest of us to ask “What were they thinking? Lately, however, that question has evolved. In regards to decisions made by world leaders, we no longer ask, “What were they thinking?” We now ask “Were they thinking?”   —The Prophet of Life

A Blessing in Disguise

By The Prophet of Life

Have you ever had something bad happen to you, only to find out later that it was actually a blessing in disguise? Bad things happen to good people all the time but it while some hold on to the pain caused by bad things like it was a precious jewel, allowing that pain to hold them back from trying new experiences, others let it go and move forward with their lives.

It has been written that everything happens for a reason. It is true, everything does happen for a reason it’s just that the person it is happening to often doesn’t know what the reason was at the time things are happening to them. The reason usually only becomes clear in hindsight, after the incident has long passed and some perspective can be achieved.

So, what is the difference between the people who are devastated by the bad things that happen to them and those who seem to move beyond the trauma associated with the incident quickly? The people who move on quickly are often people in one of three categories: they are people of faith, spiritual people or people with a positive outlook.

People of faith often move beyond the bad things that happen to them because they have been taught through their religion that God watches over and protects them. They have a holy book, filled with stories and parables which illustrate this point. They have religious authorities that they can go to for guidance. They have a community of people who believe as they do, who they can count on for support. They move forward with the help of other people of faith as a member of a caring community.

Spiritual people believe in a higher power. They believe that higher power is ultimately   good and that bad things are a part of life. They seek to learn the lesson that the bad thing was sent to teach them. They move forward because they know that the bad thing

That just happened to them happened for a reason. They may not know the reason just yet but knowing that it happened for a reason gives them the strength to move forward.

People with a positive outlook on life may not have religion. They may not even believe in higher power. They are strengthened by their honest belief that good things can come out of bad and that every cloud has a silver lining. They may also be bolstered by thoughts of how much worse the bad thing could have been and count themselves as fortunate that the bad thing wasn’t a worse thing. They may also believe that something better is just around the corner. They move forward to get to that something better.

Are you in any of the three groups described above? Do you have a holy book, religious authorities and a community behind you? Do you believe that everything happens for a reason and search for the lesson in the event? Do you believe that every cloud has a silver lining?  Or…are you a combination of two or more of these three types? If so, congratulations, you have evolved a coping strategy for the bad things that happen in life. If you do not fall into one of the three categories mentioned, what is your coping strategy? How has it been working for you? Do you let the bad things that happen to you hold you back or do you move forward beyond them? The next time something bad happens to you and trust me, something bad will happen to you sooner or later, remember the type of people that move beyond the bad things that happen to them and see what you can use that will work for you.

Miracle From Beyond The Grave Saves Baby’s Life

By The Prophet of Life
Friday March 13, 2015 was Friday the 13th but the bad luck of Friday the 13th yielded good luck on Saturday March 14th for one Utah Toddler who’s life was saved by a voice from beyond the grave.
On Friday March 13, 2015 at 10:30 PM a young mother is driving her infant daughter home when she crashes into a concrete barrier and veers off a bridge into the icy waters of a river below. A witness hears a noise but cannot see a car on the highway or in the water below. She thinks she must have been gearing things, gets back in her car and drives off.
Around noon, the next day, a fisherman spots the car, overturned in the river slightly under the bridge. He sees an arm dangling out of the car. It seems to be waving at him as if it is asking for help. The fisherman calls 911 and reports the overturned car. Both police and firefighters respond.
A total of seven rescuers enter the icy water and approach the vehicle. As they do, they hear a voice from inside of the car. It says “Help us, we’re in the car!” The men respond to the voice replying that they were doing everything they can.
The men try to maneuver the car onto its side. The car is twice its normal weight due to being full of icy river water. The voice from inside the car encouraged them to keep trying. Despite the effects of the icy waters on their body and the taxing of their strength, the seven men, inspired by the voice and their desire to help save a life, were able to turn the car over on its side.
As the car turned over, the seven rescuers were greeted with shock and surprise. There was a toddler hanging upside down its tiny head never having touched water and a woman, in the driver’s seat, dead. Her arm must have been the one dangling outside of the car window, beckoning to the fisherman.
The toddler was unconscious. Her eyes were fluttering but there was no movement. Rescuers pulled her unconscious little body from the car, made a line across the river onto the shore and handed the baby to each other and into an ambulance. The baby was rushed to the hospital. She is currently in serious but stable condition.
As for the voice that informed and encouraged the rescuers, they can only say that it was coming from inside the car and was loud and clear. They know it wasn’t the toddler because it was clearly the voice of an adult. Was it the voice of a mother, concerned for the life of her baby? Was it a voice from beyond the grave? I guess that depends on your perception of reality based on the evidence, your knowledge and personal experience. The Rescuers aren’t saying what they think publicly but privately, who knows?

One Small Candle

One Small Candle

VERSE 1

She lived in the middle of the city

But felt like she was living in hell

She wondered how she ended up here

And felt dread as the night fell

She felt so isolated

And scarred by broken dreams

She fell asleep serenaded by

Gunshots, moans and screams

She lit one small candle

And put it next to her window

To fight against the darkness

And let the world know

That one small candle

One soul to stand for right

One small candle

To keep away the night

VERSE 2

She felt like that small candle

As she struggled every day

To walk towards her goals while surrounded by

Those who lost their way

She was assaulted by temptations

Hammered by neglect

But kept on walking anyway

One step following the next

She lit one small candle

And put it next to her window each night

VERSE 3

This went on for years

And things got better over time

She struggled every day

And lit a candle every night

One night before turning in

She looked out and to her surprise

Saw 10,000 other candles

Drowning the darkness with their light

One small candle

Was able to conquer the night

The Tenants of True Faith

True faith doesn’t need miracles or wish fulfillment to sustain itself

True faith is unconditional

True faith is belief despite evidence to the contrary

True faith accentuates times of joy

True faith sustains you in times of tragedy

True faith calms you in times of anger

True faith is professing faith even when it is unpopular or dangerous

True faith is beyond trappings and ritual; it is the spirit of them even without them

True faith is emotion tempered with logic

True faith is action when action is called for

True faith is love from the heart that permeates the spirit

True faith trusts even when the odds are against you and success seems impossible

Violent Kidnapper Undone By A Worried Car Salesman

By The Prophet of Life
When Delvin Barnes abducted the woman walking down a dark Philadelphia street, late at night, she kicked and screamed but he overpowered her and dragged her into his car anyway. When she kicked out some of the windows of his Ford Taurus he was upset but not worried. He didn’t know he was being videotaped.

His history of violence and assaults against women didn’t worry him. He didn’t think he would be caught. He was committing crimes in different states and figured the different police jurisdictions would put the crimes together let alone collaborate in his capture but they did,

Within days, they knew who Barnes was but they didn’t know where he was. While conducting interviews at the dealership who sold Barnes his car they discovered that a worried salesman at the dealership secretly put a GPS tracker on Barnes car. He did this, so they could repossess the car if Barnes fell behind on payments. Barnes bad credit worried the salesman.

Police used the GPS to track Barnes to a motel in Maryland where they spotted him in the car with his kidnap victim. A Ford Taurus costs several thousand dollars. The GPS cost fifty dollars. Capturing a violent kidnapper, priceless. Did violent predator Barnes ever imagine he would be undone by a mild mannered but worried car salesman? Probably not.

A Billion People Wake Up Like This, Do You?

Imagine yourself waking up to a beautiful day. The sun is shining, the birds are singing in the trees the air is crisp and smells sweet. Everything is perfect. The harmony of the crisp, sunshiny morning filled with the songs of birds is suddenly broken by a rumbling. It is not the rumbling of a passing truck, or an earthquake. It is the rumbling of your stomach.

The minutes creep by in painful slowness. Like honey dripping from an overturned spoon. But the honey is just a dream and the spoon is the memory that spilled the dream onto the hard concrete of reality.  Then, the pain of each endless minute is punctuated by the sound of the rumbling until it drowns out the birds, blocks pout the sun and turns the sweetness of the fresh morning scent into the stench of injustice. “Why me?” The words echo through your mind and add their voice to the soundtrack of your rumbling stomach.

Then another thought enters your mind “Must eat food!” Soon the rumbling in your stomach is joined by a pounding in your head. It pounds in rhythm to the rumbling in your stomach and the echo of why me and changes it into the wailings of a specter as what was just a thought becomes a plea and then a directive. But there is nothing to eat.

Welcome to every morning for wild animals, the homeless and the poor.

In True Faith,

The Prophet of Life
