Blaming God

“Some people wonder why God allows hunger, war and poverty in our world. Perhaps God wonders why we allow it. —The Prophet of Life From the Kindle e-book The Best Quotes about God by The Prophet of Life.

Many of the catastrophes and disasters humanity faces on this planet are man-made. Hunger is caused by economic systems that distribute food through payment leaving the poor and the remote out of the equation. Global economic systems also cause poverty. Education is often the key to upward economic mobility but in many places around the globe the poor don’t have equal access to a quality education and in some places they don’t have access to any education. War is caused by people. Nations go to war out of disrespect or greed. War’s devastating effects last generations after the last bullet is fired. Global warming has been caused by human pollution and even if humanity curtails pollution completely in the next year (and that is highly unlikely) the devastating effects of global warming will be with us for the next 50-200 years. So, my friends don’t complain about why God allows these things to exist, complain about why we, as human beings allow them. Then do something about it. Write a letter; help someone less fortunate, volunteer to teach someone to read. It is only by helping to solve the problem that it will actually be solved. Then write to me at edgeucationnewmedia@yahoo.com and let me know what you did so I can add it to the Change Agents For Humanity section of my website ( www.prophetoflife.com) .

What is a Hero?

By The Prophet of Life

What is a hero to you? Is it character in a movie, or comic book or graphic novel? Is it someone who has fame? Is it a TV, movie star, pop  idol, Twiiter star, gamer or you tuber?  Is it someone who is incredibly wealthy? Is it a great politician? All of the aforementioned are typical heroes in most societies  but are they truly heroic?

A hero is someone who does something heroic. Is getting a 20 million dollar advance on a project heroic? Is making videos about the cool car you got as a result of You Tube royalties or that prank others heroic? Is having a hit record heroic? Is tweeting sarcastic things about others heroic? Is having all of the money in the world but very little left of your humanity heroic? Having fame, fortune, fans and followers may be admirable but it isn’ t heroic .

A real hero saves lives. A real hero puts their life on the line in order to protect others. A real hero selflessly does things for others. I would like for you to think of the kind of people who do these types of things as heroes. People like firemen, policemen and soldiers who put their lives on the line daily to insure that others survive. People who heal our sick, teach our children and help our elderly to live with dignity. People like legal aid lawyers who advocate for the poor against corporations and corrupt government officials. People like parents, who are there for you everyday. Who get up and go to work at a job they don’t like just to keep their families fed, clothed and sheltered. Parents who show up for their kids time and time again even if they are divorced and no longer have custody.

Heroes are often thought of a ordinary people who do extraordinary things. They run into a burning building to rescue a child. They wrestle a gun out of a shooter’s hands. They give their lives on the battlefields so that the rest of us may continue to enjoy our freedom. Heroes are people who act even when others don’t. Those aren’t the only kinds of heroes. There’s another kind of hero. These heroes are the people who do the right thing consistently. A hero can be made in the blink of an eye but they can also be made from a lifetime of consistent sacrifice. These heroes are not often given any accolades whatsoever. They work in the background tirelessly and thanklessly. It is time they too are given their due. Take time out of your day today, to thank one of the heroes in your life. It may be the only acknowledgement they have been given this year.

The Potential for Peace

By The Prophet of Life

Despite all of the wars, terror and hatred in the world, something extraordinary happened. The leaders of two nations, hostile towards each other sat down and talked about ending hostilities. The two nations were not from The U.S. and Russia. They were not warring factions in Syria. They weren’t Middle East Nations, African Nations or South American nations. The two leaders were from North and South Korea.

The two men,  Kim Jong Un and Moon Jae-in  met in South Korea. Kim Jong Un is the first North  Korean leader to set foot in South Korea in over 60 years.  The two agreed to work towards officially ending the Korean War (which never actually ended, a truce was just signed in the 1950’s), by the end of 2018. The two further agreed to de-nuclearize the Korean Peninsula.

American officials will claim that Un wants to settle things because of the current U.S. Administration’s verbal rhetoric and war mongering tone along with amping up sanctions against North Korea.  China will claim the move is due to its exertion of pressure on Un. It could also be something that Un had planned all along. Perhaps he kept pushing North Korea’s nuclear program so he could come to the negotiating table in a position of strength.

Whatever the reasons, the potential for a real and lasting peace is present. The momentum for peace and possibility of prosperity are in full effect. The wonderful promise however, will not be realized unless actions accompany the words by all parties concerned. Let’s not allow the euphoria of the moment to cloud our vision or take our eyes off the prize. Peace is a goal worth attaining and where peace goes, prosperity follows. The devil is in the details and the minutia of written contracts but if the commitment for peace is truly there, if the dedication towards success truly exists, then the consistent effort needed to be sustained throughout the difficulties involved in hammering out an agreement will be maintained.

Make no mistake about it, the lofty ideal of peace and the joy that everyone will initially feel will fade into the daily grind of negotiations.  The negotiations process will be difficult. It will try the patience of both sides. It will cause a desire to return to the predictable safety of the past, no matter how ugly, to be extremely tempting. I urge both sides to stay the course. Try to work things out., compromise. Achieving a lasting peace will not be easy but nothing lasting ever comes easily. Your people are counting on you to be the leaders your predecessors were not. The world is counting on you to not falter in your pursuit of peace. Achieving peace is never easy but peace is worth it.

Why both sides should Declare Peace!

A Quote About Global Leadership

For centuries, world leaders have made some really stupid decisions, leaving the rest of us to ask “What were they thinking? Lately, however, that question has evolved. In regards to decisions made by world leaders, we no longer ask, “What were they thinking?” We now ask “Were they thinking?”   —The Prophet of Life

The Commitment

I read an interesting short story that is a parallel to current world events in regards to terrorism. The story focuses on what is going through the mind of a suicide bomber as his mission draws near. It’s taken from a book 9: 9 Stories of Fiction on Kindle by Author Mark Wilkins. I wrote the publisher and obtained permission to re-print it here.

Here is a link to his author page:

https://www.amazon.com/Mark-Wilkins/e/B01BCK92IC/ref=ntt_dp_epwbk_1

Oofa Poofa made a commitment to join the terrorist organization. He came from a poor family in the village of Mamalulu Southeast Dadastan. He was opposed to the tyranny of President Gogo’s brutal regime. He hated the oppression against his village. He hated the persecution of his family for following the Mamasect instead of the more popular Dadasect that most of his nation followed. The previous regime had shown tolerance for his people but Presdient Gogo wanted to wipe Mamaism from the soil of Dadastan forever.

Oofa was indoctrinated into the terrorist mentality. He was given a constant verbal barrage listing the acts of oppression his people had struggled with all of his life. He learned that it wasn’t normal. He was made to believe in the virtue of dying for the cause. He was trained in military tactics and how to shoot a gun. He was trained on how to blend in with a crowd while being packed with explosives and how to pick targets.

Last night, he was sent to the nearby Military town of Kilakilla. He spent the night at a terrorist hideout disguised as a book store. He ate a wonderful meal, perhaps the best of his life. He filmed a video stating that he was opposed to the injustices his people had suffered. He gave cryptic goodbye messages to his friends and family without naming them.

Today was the day that he would make the ultimate sacrifice for Mamaism. He emerged from the terrorist hideout in the guise of a fat man. He walked down the narrow streets into the marketplace. He saw a group of the dreaded Mustafa Guards, President Gogo’s Elite Special Forces. As he walked towards them, one of the soldiers made a statement meant to imply that a fat slob was coming towards them.

As Oofa got closer, he began to have second thoughts. He knew that the government would condemn his actions. He knew they might take their anger out on his family. He knew that his death would be a tragedy.  He realized that he didn’t really want to die. He decided to turn around and walk away in the next five steps. He counted them off, one… two… three.

Just then, one of the soldiers noticed a wire hanging out from Oofa’s shirt. The soldier shouted something as he reached for his holster. Oofa knew it was too late for second thoughts. As the soldier drew his pistol, Oofa pressed the button. He didn’t do it as a result of his training. He didn’t do it out of a commitment for the cause. In the end, he did it because he knew he was going to die anyway. An explosion rocked the marketplace killing all of the soldiers. Oofa was a martyr for Mamaism. Or was he?
